The first rule of standing out is not to do it in the wrong way. Stand out in a classic way, not a loud one.
1. Show your confidence with good posture and eye contact.
2. Smile. A warm smile will attract just about everyone.
3. Have great hair. Start experimenting with products to get your hair shiny and bouncy. Make sure it looks good from all angles; some people might be staring at your back.
4. Don’t mess with your phone! If you are left alone and feel awkward, you look more awkward playing with your phone than you would standing there looking confident.
5. Compliment others, especially other girls. It will give you an instant charm.
6. Be interested in other people.
7. Be witty. Do some recon work if necessary. Brush up on the news, pop culture and sports, depending on who you’ll be meeting. If you’re going out to a bar and planning to meet guys, find a few hot topics in sports that you can use to impress.
8. Be thoughtful. Helping a host clean up a party or peeling TP off a random girl’s shoe will speak loudly for someone observing.
9. Be thankful. If someone cooks you a meal, buys you a drink - Let them know that it’s appreciated.
10. Be funny. One of the best ways to add humor but not steal the show is to make fun of yourself. But, don’t go overboard.
11. Don’t drink too much! You should be able to stand, hold your drink and look classy - No swaying! When you drink too much, you never know what will come out of your mouth, and sometimes you won’t even remember.
12. Show your silhouette. Too much skin will give you the wrong attention, but a well shaped dress will show off your assets in the right way. A dress is almost always the best outfit choice. If it’s winter and you want to wear a tiny dress, don’t go bare-legged; you’ll look silly. Add black tights.
13. Wear red. It really does draw your eye.
Dress to your personality, but take it up just a notch. Keep it classy, but try something trendy. That being said - Never put trendy in front of what is flattering on you. The most important thing is how it fits you. Check out your outfit from every angle to make sure it flatters.
Alright folks, low-calorie spices are a great addition to your weight-loss diet. I’m sharing some of the best ones!
4 Spices to help you lose weight:
1. Cinnamon - As little as one teaspoon of cinnamon per day can boost the body’s weight-loss ability by reducing blood sugar and promoting healthier processing of carbohydrates. It also lowers bad cholesterol by seven to 27% and total cholesterol by 12 to 26%. It can be easily incorporated into any diet when used in place of sugar. Add a little to your oatmeal or coffee. Replace sugar with cinnamon for double the benefits!
2. Cayenne - This pepper increases fat-burning and calorie-burning abilities and suppresses appetite. It basically gets your body all excited on the cellular level, and the metabolism jump starts shortly after you eat it. If you enjoy hot food sprinkle a little, or a lot, for an extra kick to your meal.
3. Ginger - The spice boosts the body’s metabolism, making it easier to burn calories and fat at a quicker rate. It improves gastric mobility (pushes food and waste through the digestive system) and hinders the absorption of cholesterol. Although according to the Mayo Clinic, more study is needed, preliminary evidence suggests that this versatile spice helps to increase metabolism.
4. Curry - It’s a combo of multiple spices, including cumin, ginger and turmeric - all known for their metabolism raising skills. This makes curry one of the most effective spices when it comes to aiding weight loss. Curry can be used in rice, noodles and veggies, and you can get it as a powder or paste. Try it out!
One last comment.. Don’t forget about that Green Tea!
This Biggest Loser season 7 contestant dropped more than 100 pounds and has kept it off. Nicole Brewer said, “I’ve run 12 half-marathons plus dozens of other races, and I have qualifications to teach Spin, Zumba and Turbo Kick.” ..What a complete life change!
A lot of people use “I wasn’t born for this” as an excuse to not exercise and live healthy. Fitness is not something you were born with or without. Fitness is a choice, and it’s a hard one.
It may not seem like it matters now, but experts agree your mother is correct. Something as simple as washing your face every night can lead to more flawless and age-defying skin. Even if you don’t wear foundation, or aren’t wearing foundation tonight, there’s still tons of crud on your face.
Reasons why you should:
1. Prevent breakouts! Whether you normally get breakouts or not, you’re much more likely to get blemishes without a face wash the night before. Personally, my skin has cleared up in the last few years, but one of the only times that I break out is when I have failed to wash.
2. Soft, bright skin! The moisturizer you apply in the morning doesn’t hold up against the elements. The optimal time for your skin to soak it up is when you’re unconscious. It’ll give you you even skin and keep flakes away.
3. Prevent wrinkles! Whether you’re 20 something and haven’t seen your first wrinkle, or you’ve already got a nice set.. You have to start prevention now to ward them off in the future. This is one of those nagging mom deals that’s oh so true.
4. Get that dirt off! At the end of the day, there’s literally a layer on your skin of all the stuff you encountered that day. Stay clean and steer clear of infection.
The ideal washing includes:
1. Eye makeup removal (remember to apply lightly)
2. A makeup removing cleanser
3. Astringent to cover what the cleanser didn’t - look for salicylic acid if you’re acne prone
“Everything you have in life can be taken from you except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation. This is what determines the quality of the life we’ve lived — not whether we’ve been rich or poor, famous or unknown, healthy or suffering. What determines our quality of life is how we relate to these realities, what kind of meaning we assign them, what kind of attitude we cling to about them, what state of mind we allow them to trigger.”
A friend of mine was diagnosed with melanoma at the age of 17. Her story was featured in Seventeen Magazine.
For many, reading real-life horror stories wouldn’t keep you out of the bed unless there was a comparable alternative to the bronze glow. Well, I’ve tested many self-tanners and have found an at-home spray that will give you a deep, dark tan. No lie!
Neutrogena’s product can be layered on for a very dark tan that isn’t orange. The downfall is the smell. To combat the strong scent I put it on at night, let it dry, put jammies on and let it set overnight. Then, I shower the next morning to remove the smell.
If you’re looking for the darkest tan, buy it in “Deep-3 Shades Darker”. Spray it on, let it set and spray it again. It will give you an even glow, unless you spray too close to the skin. If you see a spot that looks really wet, dab it with a cloth cause this could dry to be uneven.
If you just can’t deal with the smell or need to spray-n-go, L’Oreal Sublime is the way to go.
